Born in Naples, Fabrizio von Arx started studying violin at the age of seven under the tuition of
Leone. Immediately, he manifested a great artistic talent which was furthermore revealed when he
won, at the age of ten, the Vittorio Veneto competition. He also received other prices through
various national violin competitions for young musicians.
He obtained his diploma at the "San Pietro a Majella" Conservatory in Naples, and then worked to
perfection his technique through further studies abroad. He won prestigious distinctions, such as
his virtuosity diploma (classified first) in Geneva under the guidance of Corrado Romano, as well
as the "Performer" award in the U.S.A., where he was taught by Franco Gulli and Nelli Skolnikova at
the School of Music of the Indiana University of Bloomington. He also worked under the guidance of
Ruggiero Ricci in Berlin, and of Salvatore Accardo in Cremona.
His debut at the age of 16 with the Naples RAI orchestra has sent him into intense activity at
national and international level. Since then, he is a regular guest at the principal international
seasons, such as the "Serate Musicali" in Milan, the Scarlatti Association of Naples, the Mozart
Italy Association of Naples, the Autumn Festival in Como (Italy), the Tonhalle of Zurich, La
Cité de la Musique of Paris, the Ravenna Festival, the Concerts Radio Rai at the Quirinale
in Rome, and in the Kammermusiksaal and Philarmonie in Berlin.
He performed as a soloist for famous orchestras, as the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Orchestra
Padova and Veneto, the Moscow Solists, the Japan Royal Chamber Orchestra, the Zürich Symphony
Orchestra, the Wiener kammerorchester and the Berliner Symphoniker. He has been directed by famous
artists, notably by Franco Petracchi, Alexander Vedernikov, Yuri Bashmet,Peter Maag and Lior
Shambadal. He also toured the United-States, France, Germany, and Belgium. In 2005, he was the
"Prima" of a triumphant tour in China, next to the MÝRoberto Prosseda.
His first CD received the highest praise from specialised critics. It is published under the label
Nuova Era of Turin, and comprises the recording of the complete works for violin and piano by
Sergej Prokofiev (with Antonio Valentino).
We also point out his now consolidated, long-lasting collaboration with Bruno Canino, with whom he
has just recorded the Schumann sonatas under the label Dynamic These sonatas have been rewarded by
the prestigious five stars of the magazine "Musica". The CD has been presented by the duo through
concerts at the "Kammermusiksaal" of thr Philarmonie of Berlin, at the "Serate Musicali" in Milan,
and at the Wigmore Hall of London.
